Introducing Andrea’s Corner

I am so excited to have my friend Andrea be a contributor to The Obsessive Shopper. She will be focusing on Long Term Food Storage buying. Read below to learn more about her and watch for her posts every other week.

~ Shauntell

Welcome to Andrea’s corner. When it comes to purchasing your long term food storage, there are many options! I started Shauntell’s system back in June, and I have been able to build up my 3 month supply while doing it on a budget. I love her system and it has saved me a lot of money – not to mention how much I LOVE not heading to Walmart each time I run out of toothpaste. She asked me to help her do posts that give tips on how to purchase long term food storage. I am so excited to share with you my research and experiences as I learn more myself.

Buying long-term food storage can be confusing, and you want to make sure that you are getting a good deal. In Andrea’s corner, I will be showing you the different ways to buy your long term food storage.  As I do my research and find information, I will be linking those posts under the following categories: Online, Grocery Stores, Home Storage Centers, and Wholesale Distribution Center.

Every two weeks, I will do a post on each of these methods.  I will keep all the research I gather on the Andrea’s Corner page. Click on the Andrea’s Corner image in the side bar to get to my page. While I get my first official post together, please share with me any tips you have – that way we can learn and build our food storages together. E-mail me at andreascorner@gmail.com

  3. Thank you so much Andrea! This is DEFINITELY something we can all use some help with. Can’t wait for you to do all the hard work so I can reap all the benefits ;) I seriously need to figure out how to use the cannery. lol.

  4. VERY excited to see this! I am getting close to finishing my three month storage and need to work on the long term stuff. This is really going to help; thanks!

  5. Thanks so much I am so excited to get your ideas and share your resources to build my food storage. I have been following both sites and look forward to your posts!!!

  6. I recently started using the LDS cannery in our area for this sort of thing. Cannery volunteers in our ward set up two special sessions per month just for our ward members to do dry pack canning. After serving, we get to buy whatever we want. So awesome. Check prices of things because storing sugar, flour etc long term in the cans is great but for everyday use it is MUCH cheaper to buy it at another store such as WINCO. non LDS people are more than welcome to go to the cannery so this is not just a member thing. Best to learn how to access the cannery for many things.

  7. As our Stake Canning Coordinator, I’m always looking for new ways to teach and encourage food storage in our area and I am looking forward to reading your posts. Saving money is just plain fun, too!!! (Just so everyone knows, each LDS cannery has local policies about non-member use, so be sure to check with your LDS friends and see what the rules are in your area.)
