Today is the final section to the PreShop, Gather Coupons. Watch this video to see what I do.
Now that you’ve completed all the PreShop sections you are “Pre”pared to “Shop”. Here is an example of how the PreShop step of The System can make a huge difference in your savings.
Kimberly an awesome shopper from a small town in Utah shared her experience:
“I decided I had to make a change and feed my family better! I have to tell you about the morning I had today. I decided to make your plan work (this is actually the third week I’ve done this with pretty great success). I got my kids ready early and decided to shop BEFORE work when the store opened at 7:00 so I’d get the sale items. I got there, and (typically for our store) the sale signs weren’t up yet. So after doing some research about which cereals are actually included in the sale, I filled my cart and went to the check out stand. Well, she rang up my items and they came to 90 dollars. That was before the coupons. So she puts in the coupons, and it’s still almost 60.00. I told her something must be wrong, because I had figured out the total the night before and I had only brought 35.00 worth of cash with me. So she looked at the receipt and NONE of the sales had gone in right. So she put in all of the sales and I ended up paying 32.00. You have to understand that for me, living in this small town with no grocery opportunities, this was SO FUN. Watching my total go from 90 dollars to just over 30 dollars was amazing.”

So, don’t you ever get to the store and all the sudden find a manager’s special, etc. that you WISH you had your coupon for? I tried this system for a while, and I still use it — but for the things we constantly use, I cut-out previously.
Do you ever do that?
So I have a question. If you want to shop Wed. morning (which if I am understanding it correctly is when most of the sales switch over) When are the new ads updated? I would like to go shopping tommorrow morning but when I look at Grocery Smarts it still has last weeks ad up. Any advice? Thanks

To be honest I never have! I HAVE to keep to my $50 budget each week or our family finances go in the hole. I do not have anything extra to spend on store specials. I just remind myself if I can’t get somethin one week that the sales rotate and that it WILL be on sale again. There is no need to panic or get all stressed about it. Thanks for sharing what works for you.

I may be too late to answer your question. The Lists change over to the new pricing on Wednesday mornings. On some lists you will see a link to PYP for a preveiw to the upcoming ad. If you follow that link you can take a peek of what is coming up. It is a forum setting so look for the post titled “Such and Such Store Deals Jan 27- Feb 2nd” or whatever the date happens to be.
